The curriculum addresses both skills and knowledge development as well as the transfer of these skills into practical work or programmes. All sessions are based on inputs from renowned experts from academia, think tanks, government and civil society organisations and give the opportunity to discuss with them the issues from a youth perspective.  
Block I (offline – Three-Day-Workshop): Becoming an active citizen in the Indonesian Democracy

• Sessions include topics like Democracy, Culture and Nation, Young Indonesian Identity, Diversity and Tolerance, Presentation skills

Block II (online – Evening classes): Indonesia´s way towards an inclusive society

• Sessions include topics like Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion, Climate change and just transition, Being Indonesian in the Global Society, Project Management and organizational skills

Block III Phase of preparing mini-projects

Block IV (offline – Three-Day-Workshop): Leadership through knowledge and active participation

• Sessions include topics like Political Economy, Reflections on “Who are the Young Indonesians”, Conflict Management/Negotiation skills, Sharing of mini-projects and best practices for volunteer projects

Young professionals working in government, non-government organizations, student and civil society leaders andactivists engaged in community based or volunteer programmesin Indonesia can join the training program.  Diversity among the participants and representation of various regions and cultures are encouraged by YPA. Hence, applicants from various backgrounds (geographical location, sex, ethnic and religious groups in Indonesia) are encouraged to apply.

  • Motivation Letter Writing Requirements
    • Make sure the motivation letter is entirely your own work. Plagiarism or use of Chat GPT technology or similar AI tools is strictly prohibited. Violation of this rule will result in the cancellation of your application and the possible ban.
    • Letters should be well-written, have a clear structure, and specifically answer the given question. Focus on information relevant to your application to YPA.
    • Double check your letter carefully before submitting it. Make sure the final version you upload is free of grammar, spelling and punctuation errors.
    • Reflect on your personal experiences and aspirations. Show how your background and social commitments align with YPA's goals. Highlight your previous achievements, skills and involvement in social or community activities.
    • Clearly write down your goals and vision for the future. Explain how being part of YPA will help you achieve those goals.
• Voluntary Personalised introduction video (2-3 minutes);
• Copy of bachelor’s degree in any discipline or proof from the university of undergoing the final year of study. Special consideration will be given to applicants holding no bachelor’s degree but presenting proof of volunteer or professional engagement in socio-ecological and socio-economic projects.
• Recommendation letter either from national or local government Members of the House of Representatives (national or local level/DPR or DPRD), CEOs/Senior Management in companies, civil society organisations, media, or university representatives (lecturers, head of Department, Dean or Rector) acknowledging the candidate’s contribution to communities and her orhis potential as a future leader. The Recommendation letter also serves as proof of the applicant’s active employment/membership as official of a government institution, member of a community empowerment institution/CSO, cadre of a political party, journalist or chairman of a student body;
• Committment to the values of freedom, equality, social justice and solidarity;
• Plans to pursue socio-economic and socio-ecological  development projects.

Application Deadline: All application documents should be submitted to FES through email youngprogressive.id(at)fes.de not later than 25 August 2024 (Monday), 11:59PM. Incomplete applications will not qualify for the selection process.

Many YPA graduates so far have taken up positions in various organisations in Indonesia after completing the programme. Currently, the YPA Alumni Network is established to share knowledge and resources to advocate for their projects or joint programmes, access government programmes with support from Kemenko PMK and share their best practice experiences. YPA Alumni are free to develop and implement their activities independently of FES and Kemenko PMK. Therefore, views and actions of the YPA Alumni Network do not necessarily reflect the position of FES Indonesia or Kemenko PMK.
