Perkembangan terkini, reformasi dan tantangan dalam sistem jaminan sosial yang dihadapi oleh kedua negara menjadi fokus pertemuan antara perwakilan Kementerian Tenaga Kerja dan Sosial Jerman dengan Kementerian Koordinator Bidang Pembangunan Manusia dan Kebudayaan di Jakarta.
Reformasi sistem jaminan sosial universal di Indonesia baru dimulai beberapa tahun yang lalu. Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Indonesia telah melaksanakan program untuk mendukung reformasi sistem jaminan sosial nasional. Kunjungan delegasi Kementerian Tenaga Kerja dan Sosial Jerman (BMAS) ke Jakarta setelah menghadiri pertemuan kedua Kelompok Kerja Bidang Ketenagakerjaan G20 di Yogyakarta pada bulan Mei 2002 membuka kesempatan untuk bertukar informasi tentang perkembangan jaminan sosial di Jerman dan Indonesia dengan perwakilan dari Kementerian Koordinator Bidang Pembangunan Manusia dan Kebudayaan (KEMENKO PMK).
Dalam pertemuan ini dibahas tentang perkembangan terbaru, reformasi dan tantangan yang dialami sistem jaminan sosial di Indonesia dan Jerman.
