Young Progressive Academy Batch 4: A Journey of Learning, Leadership, and Growth

YPA Batch 4 once again marked a successful chapter. The program represents an ongoing collaboration between Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Indonesia and the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenko PMK). Specifically designed to cultivate promising young leaders, YPA encourages participants to think critically about contemporary social, economic, and political issues.

Nurturing Young Leaders, Driving Change

The program began in December 2025 with a rigorous selection process. Out of 139 applicants, 25 outstanding participants from diverse professional and geographical backgrounds were selected. During the opening session, these young leaders gathered to reflect on the values of progressivism, inclusive democracy, political economy, leadership, and Indonesian identity. This initial session laid a strong foundation for their learning journey.

A Comprehensive Curriculum: From Local to Global Issues

Following the opening event, the journey continued with a series of seven online learning sessions beginning in January 2026. The YPA curriculum was designed adaptively to introduce participants to both Indonesia’s development dynamics and global challenges.

At the national level, discussions focused on critical topics such as:

  • Indonesian youth identity
  • Inclusive social protection
  • Gender equality

Through these topics, participants were challenged to critically examine the real opportunities and obstacles faced by Indonesian society today.

The program also expanded participants’ perspectives to the international arena. They explored how global dynamics affect local contexts through sessions on geoeconomics, just energy transition, and glocalization.

To provide practical skills, the program included a dedicated project management session. This session equipped participants with the technical skills needed to transform innovative ideas into impactful action. Throughout the program, digital discussion spaces evolved into platforms for exchanging ideas and building strong networks among participants.

The End of the Program, the Beginning of Change

This six-month transformative journey reached its peak in May 2026 with the closing ceremony and official graduation. Yet graduation was not the end—it marked the gateway to a new chapter in the participants’ lives.

Today, YPA Batch 4 alumni are ready to move forward. Equipped with new knowledge, strengthened leadership capacity, practical skills, and extensive networks, they are prepared to make meaningful contributions toward a more inclusive, progressive, and sustainable future for Indonesia.

The achievements of these graduates stand as clear evidence of the commitment of FES Indonesia and Kemenko PMK to investing in the future generation of the nation’s leaders.
